Design for Emergence

Emergence can be summarized by the quip "the whole is more than the sum of its parts" … that is, emergence is when a system exhibits properties that are different than what would've been expected of its constituent pieces. When quantity changes into quality.

As a designer, I'm interested in building technologies which have complex emergent effects in the real world. One example is the emergent effects of social media and improved communication technologies.

WeWrite specifically aims to unleash a new renaissance of new ideas, theories, inventions, movements, etc. A chaotic unleashing of the ideas of the people against the existing order of things.
